Today for review I’ve got a special product, and well this really isn’t a review as much as letting you know about something great that a company is doing to help people with cancer, specifically breast cancer.  I personally know one person that has it and I’m sure everyone out there knows of someone as well, and as with any cancer, it’s serious, and any help or attention it can get is a good thing, especially from large companies that are in a better position to donate funds to research for a cure. ATP also has a program to giveaway Petito USB Drives to those who submit stories about their bouts with breast cancer as well

So today I’ve got the Petito Pink Ribbon Edition 1gig USB drive from ATP. ATP sent me the drive to review it and to let people know about their program of donating 10% of all sales of the Pink Petito to the Susan G Komen for the Cure and the fight against breast cancer. The Petito is a great little USB drive, it’s tiny, waterproof, dustproof, ESD proof and shock resistant as well, overall it’s a great little drive that can also help do something good for people.

The Petito comes in your standard sealed plastic clamshell style package, pink themed of course with information about the drive and information about the donation program as well.

Included with the Petito is a silver necklace, the Petito itself is small enough to be worn as a charm.

The drive itself is pink themed of course with a pink ribbon on it and the name on the front with the ATP logo on the back. It basically separate in half to access the USB drive.

For testing the performance of the Petito, I put it up against one of the fastest USB drives on the market today, the OCZ Rally2 Turbo.

For the first set of tests I used HDTach RW:

(you can click graphs to show larger view)

petito12

as expected the Petito isn’t the fastest out there, but it’s not bad overall, I really didn’t expect the Petito to overtake the Rally2 Turbo.

For the next test I ran SiSoft Sandra 2009 Removable Storage Benchmark Test, here I’ve got only the overall scores showing the Combined Index Average Rating for the drives and the Endurance Factors of both drives.

Endurance Factor: is a figure representing the Wear and Life Expectancy of flash devices; this is obtained by dividing the average performance (normal condition, i.e. sequential write) to the lowest performance (high-stress condition, i.e. same block re-write).

again the OCZ Rally2 Turbo is better, but surprisingly the Petito blows it away in the endurance factor testing. The endurance factor Apparently the Petito will last a long time with many uses.

Again, I didn’t expect the ATP Petito to break any records, but it works and works well.

Conclusion:

Yes it’s not the fastest USB drive out there, speed and performance are not the point of this special edition product, the idea and charity behind it are./p>

The ATP Petito is a great little drive that supports a great cause, it’s got many great features as well, including being waterproof and very durable.

The biggest feature is of course the 10% of the purchase price that will be donated to funding breast cancer research.

You can learn more about the Pink Ribbon program HERE, and you can do you part to let other people know about it as well.

Pros:

-Durable and well made

-Benefits a very good cause

-Looks good

Cons:

-Not the fastest USB Drive out there

Grades:

Overall: score-9-10

Design: score-10-10

Performance:   score-8-10
