Review of SANSI LED Security Motion Sensor Outdoor Lights

sansec4
I love LED lights and I’ve been working at replacing every light I have with LEDs and one that I forgot was my outdoor motion sensor light until I was asked to review one from Sansi. Today for review I’ve got an excellent product from them, it’s an outdoor LED motion sensor security light that features eight LEDs that produce the equivalent of 250watts of incandescent light but uses only 30watts of power. One of my favorite feature of this light is that it’s 5000k or daylight light and it really is, it makes my backyard look like daytime in the middle of the night. The Sansi light lights up more of an area in my yard and it’s much brighter than my previous light was. I’m very happy with this light. Read on to learn more…

The Review

Let’s start with a video unboxing and then move on:

The Sansi security light comes in a large brown box and the light itself is packaged well and protected. Once you get everything unpacked you’ll find the user manual and a bag of hardware to mount the light. You’ll need to have a junction or power box already installed if you’re replacing an existing light or you’ll need to buy one and run power wires as well.

The security light consists of two LED arrays on the top that can be moved and positioned up, down, right and left and anything in between. At the bottom of the housing is the sensor that can also be positioned as needed. The entire light is made of plastic which is fine for me and it’s made to be used outside so it’s weatherproof.

Each side has four rather large LEDs in it and combined it’s supposed to be the equivalent of 250 watts or it’s rated at 3000lm. The light is rated for 5000K range which is basic bright white or a daylight color which is what I prefer.

On the bottom of the sensor you’ll find basic controls. There’s a slider that can set the time the lights will be on for 10, 5 or 1 minute and then there’s a test mode as well. There’s also a range dial so you can set how sensitive the light is as far as how far things are away to activate it with a maximum range of 50 feet.

Installation was fairly easy as I already had a light installed and this one was replacing that. I did have to move the power box down just slightly as the Sansi light is taller than my original one. All of the hardware was included and it all worked fine, I didn’t need anything else except for of course a screwdriver and a ladder really.

I get up very early, 4:30am my alarm goes off and yes it’s still very dark outside so that’s one of the main reasons I like to have a motion activated light in the back. Below are two pictures taken with my camera, the first is without the light on, yep it’s dark out there, and then with the light on, huge difference, night and day really! Seriously though, this is much brighter than my previous light that had two 150 watt bulbs in it and this light also lights up a much large area. I have a hill and woods behind my house and this light up quite a bit of that in addition to my whole back yard. I’m very much impressed by this light and very happy with it. The light has been through light and heavy rain with no problems. The sensor works fine as well, no issues there, I can set it off or my dog can which is what I wanted.

Conclusion

The Sansi LED security light is exactly what I want and need in an outdoor light, it works as it should and it’s very bright, much brighter than I expected it to be.

The light is very white and clear, everything seems more crisp and clean in my backyard now and it illuminates much more of an area than my previous incandescent light bulbs did even though those were supposedly brighter according to their wattage.

My old light used 300 watts of power since there was two 150watt bulbs in it, the Sansi light only uses 30watts and it’s much brighter. Less power is a good thing to me as that means a lower electricity bill.

The price for this light is about $60 right now on Amazon and I would say it’s very much worth it, I’m very happy with this light. Yes I got it for review but if I was in the market for one I’d most surely buy this one.
