Synology offers free iOS apps for remote viewing of photos and video as well as music playback. To help with accessing the DiskStation outside of one’s home network, Synology offers QuickConnect that does not require the user to configure any router settings.
For home medial lovers, there are numerous programs for viewing multimedia such as Video Station. This application provides access to Movies, TV Shows, Home Video and TV Recordings stored on the Synology DS713+. If the files are properly titled Video Station will pull down the metadata providing movie posters and descriptions of the associated movie or TV show. Video Station works with AirPlay and DLNA streaming. If you had a USB digital television tuner you can even stream and record live TV shows.
Audio Station does the same for your music library stored on the Synology NAS. The iOS apps let users view or listen to media remotely inside or outside one’s home network. In addition Audio Station allows the listening of Internet radio on your PC, Mac or mobile devices. Music can be streamed to either Bluetooth devices, media players or Airplay enabled devices.
To manage browse and share your photos Synology provides Photo Station. This application is also remotely accessible and allows upload or download of photos within the iOS app. Photos can also be shared on social networks including Facebook, Twitter and Picasa.
