LEDs or light emitting diodes are everywhere these days and the technology is just getting better and better. There are something I wasn’t sure about when it comes to substituting an LED for the real thing, like candles for instance as most I’ve seen just look fake, but today for review I’ve got one that looks real and it’s made of wax. A company called Maison Luxuries has sent over the Ambilux for review and it’s an LED candle but what makes it life-like is the moving ‘flame’ that it has and it does a very good job of simulating a real candle. I had it on in the hallway when my wife came home and she thought it was a real candle, so that’s saying something right there I think. Read on to learn more…

Ambilux – Join the candle revolution
The National Fire Protection Association claim that there are 11000 house fires a year caused by candles. Not only are they a fire hazard but smoky, messy, unsafe around children/pets and you are constantly replacing them. Not to mention blowing them out whenever you leave the house.
The Ambilux by Maison Luxuries solves all of these problems whilst creating an elegant candlelit atmosphere for your home. It eliminates the risk of fire hazards associated with flamed candles and is completely safe around children and pets. Just set the 5 hour timer (e.g. 6.30-11.30pm) to give you the elegant candlelit ambience without ever worrying about leaving candles lit. Not only is this cost effective, but it is long-lasting, clean and environmentally-conscious.
Made from high quality ivory wax, the Ambilux is virtually indistinguishable from real candles. Our naturally moving wick simulates authentic flame movement with patented technology, using magnets to ensure a random flame movement. It is ROHS and CE certified and we ship with carefully designed packaging materials to ensure that your Ambilux arrives exactly as it should.

The Review
The packaging for the Ambilux candle is very nice, the box is stylish and sophisticated looking really. Inside the candle is protected well during shipping with a plastic tray on the top and bottom holding the candle in place.
Once you get everything unpacked you’ll find the candle, remote, user guide and a page on how to get a 20% discount.
The remote is very basic, just two buttons for on and off. It’s about 3.5×1.5x.25 in dimensions. and it uses a single CR2032 style battery for power.
The candle is about 3.5 inches wide, or across, and five inches tall at the shortest part or front and up to six inches at the tallest parts of the sides. The top is shaped or made to look like a real candle and how the wax would naturally melt around the flame. It’s a fake candle yes, but it’s actually made from real wax, at least the outer layer is real wax. Having a wax outer layer makes it not only look like a real candle but feel like one as well.
On the bottom is the battery compartment and the power switch. The switch has three modes: Timer, On and Off and you just slide it into position. On the bottom you can see the real wax layer around the candle, it’s slightly less than 1.4” thick.
The Ambilux uses two D batteries that will last a long time. Specs say they have a 600 hour battery life which means that would be 25 days on all the time, 24 hours per day. If you use the timer it only stays on for five hours per day which means you’ll get about 120 days or about four months out of the two batteries, which is really good I think.
When you turn it on it’s not very bright in the light or daylight, but candles aren’t very bright either then, the Ambilux candle does a very good job of simulating the luminance of a real candle with an LED.
In the dark the candle looks much better and it really does throw a good bit of light. You could use it for nightlight if you wanted to. The flame does move like a real flame, and the light moves across your walls as light from a real candle would.
Conclusion
The Ambilux candle is a very nice product that really surprised me by just how realistic it looks and even feels.
When this first arrived I wasn’t sure about it really, but then I used it and it totally does look real in the the dark. The ‘flame’ moves just like a real flame would, my wife came home and thought it was a real candle burning in the hallway.
The Ambilux candle is certainly a unique product and I’m truly impressed by it as it does look real.
The only complaint I might have is that there is no smell. I thought it but my wife said it, we burn candles for the scent, and this has no scent to it, but it is sold as unscented. Yes it looks like a candle but you don’t get any scent from it as you would a real candle. Let me clarify that though, the actual candle wax part does have a very faint scent to it, sort of a vanilla aroma, but you really have to get close, I mean like an inch away to smell it. It’s not supposed to have any scent though, it’s not advertised that way, it’s advertised as an unscented LED flickering candle and it is.
