This is a mummy style sleeping bag which means it tapers towards the bottom and doesn’t open all the way like a traditional bag would. Specifications and Features
This bag combines all the benefits of Cotton -high compressibility, superior warmth, and light weight- with unmatched performance in the presence of humidity, condensation, and sweat. It will keep you warm with lots of key features. The box baffle construction with ground-level side seams and differential cut maximizes warmth and eliminates cold spots while the top draft collar and zipper draft tube with anti-snag design will keep the cold air out of the bag. The efficient, form fitting hood is warm and comfortable, with captured cord lock for one-handed adjustment, makes it easy to adjust. The bag is also easy to get in and out of with the dual-slider locking zipper. Regular Cotton is treated with a molecular level polyester to create a hydrophobic finish on each individual Cotton plume. This finish allows it to stay dry longer, loft better, and dry faster than untreated Cotton, keeping you warmer in any environment.

The Review

The Egoz Almond sleeping bag just comes in a plastic bag which is fine as it’s not fragile or anything like that. The sleeping bag is actually inside of the carrying bag and when compressed it’s about 15 inches by 9 inches in dimensions and about 3lbs in weight making it very portable for sure. The top of the bag has a nylon drawstring style closure with a plastic spring style fastener to keep it locked tight. On the bottom of the bag is strap or handle to make it easy to carry. The carry bag is a a vey thin nylon, almost see-though so I have to question the longevity of it really as I don’t think it’s going to last very long with a lot of use.
The sleeping bag is black in color on the outside and gray on the inside. The bag is a mummy style so it has a hood on it that can be pulled tightly closed to keep the cold air out and the warmth in. The bag is made of nylon or polyester with a cotton fill. The inner gray lining is the same material as the outside but it feels softer to the touch in my opinion. The bag is about one inch thick which might not seem like much but that’s really all cotton filling so it’s soft and it should do a very good job of keeping you warm.
On the left side of the hood is the nylon cord drawstring that does have a plastic spring style push button locking mechanism. The cord is nice and long, a bit too long really, but it’s fine as it works well either way.
If you’re laying inside of the bag the zipper is on your right side and it’s a double zipper so you can open from the inside or outside for ease of access. At the top of the zipper is also a velcro flap that can secure the bag closed while you’re sleeping in it.
This sleeping bag is a mummy style which means it tapers at the bottom and it doesn’t open all the way around like a traditional sleeping bag would. On the very bottom of the bag is two loops which I guess could be used to hang the bag to dry it or for storage to air it out. Towards the bottom on the right side is another single zipper so you can open the bag from the outside if need be.
My son used the sleeping bag and I used it as well and it’s very warm. It’s rated for 30F to 40F and I would not go below 40F myself with it but if you’re outside you’ll have other clothes on in the bag so you should be warm enough.
Conclusion
The Almond by Egoz sleeping bag is a decent choice for a bag most seasons, it’s more of a three season bag I think. It depends where you are in the summer as it can get chilly at night. The bag is rated for 30F to 40F and I think 40F would be the limit.
I personally don’t like mummy style bags as I find them constricting but this one isn’t. I’m 6 foot tall and I can comfortably fit inside with a few inches to spare but what’s most important to me is the fact that it allows me to turn on my side as hat’s how I sleep. The bag is big enough to allow me to easily turn in the bag and it’s not as constricting as other mummy style bags I’ve owned. The zippers work smoothly and I didn’t run across any snags while using them and I like the double zipper on the top.
The bag has cotton stuffing inside of it making it comfortable to sleep on for the most part but you will feel rocks and twigs etc through the bag so I would recommend a ground mat or pad to go with the bag to be more comfortable for sure.
Getting the sleeping bag back into the carry bag is a small issue. The bag came rolled up all neat and nice but re-doing that and getting it back in the bag is a hassle as you really have to compress the bag. I found it easier to just grab an end of the bag and start stuffing it into the carry bag, it might not look like it will fit but it does with a little bit of work. Stuffing it is much easier than trying to roll it and it’s quicker
