Yesterday I took a look at the Beam N Read 3 LED light and today I have the Beam N Read 6 LED light which is sort of the same as the 3 LED version but it has six LEDs and a switch so you can change between 3 or 6 LEDs. Not much else to say, if you read that review then you’ll know most of what is in this review. Read on to learn more…
Specifications and Features
When you need personal light, this hands free light delivers features and practical usefulness unmatched by other portable lights: extra wide & extra bright light from 6 LEDs, 2 clip-on Relaxation Filters, longer battery life, and an optional external Power Kit. Read Everything: It’s a true reading light that works with all Kindles and other eReaders, printed books, PLUS newspapers, loose documents, maps and other items that can’t support a clip-on light. Worn around the neck, it shines a cool & steady light for reading, quilting, knitting, all needlework & crafts, and searching a dark basement. Use it for writing journals, working, camping, and changing diapers at night. The extra bright light is helpful for those with aging eyes.
Included are two 2 special Relaxation Filters that snap-on the light: BNR Orange for a softer, warmer light and to block blue light; BNR Red to block blue light, reduce ambient light for sensitive bed partners, or to help maintain night vision. A switch lets you light all 6 LEDS or just 3 LEDs. 4 alkaline AA batteries (not included) will run for 50 hours shining all 6 LEDs or 100 hours when using 3 LEDs. The longer battery runtime than other lights is especially valuable during a power outage and when traveling. This light is still bright when others have gone dim. No wonder reviewers called it the “most useful, versatile tool I’ve found in a while” and “by far the best personal reading light we have come across”. Other critics rave as well.

The Review
Let’s start with a video unboxing and then move on:
The packaging for the Beam N Read 6 is attractive with plenty of information on it. Inside you’ll find the Beam N Read and accessories in a plastic tray along with the user manual on the side.
The bottom of the Beam and Read is where the lights or LEDs are and a switch labeled 3 and 6 so you can switch between using 3 LEDs or 6 LEDs.
The battery compartment is right below the light and you can use four AA batteries for power or the optional Beam N Read USB power kit.
At the back of the Beam N Read is a small hole where the Beam N Read power kit plugs into. There’s a strap attached to the back, it’s elastic and adjustable.
On the top of the Beam N Read it’s just plain black. The dimensions are about 3.5 x 2.5 x .75 inches.
The LEDs are more than bright enough for reading for sure, but I use it for other things like projects that require hands-free light. The 6 LEDs are very bright and offer more than enough light for any project or reading for sure. The power or on/off switch is the light housing itself, flip it up and it turns on, flip it down and it turns off. The light can also be positioned at three different angles.
Like the Beam N Read 3 LED this one comes with red and orange filters that filter out blue light and make reading and using the light a bit easier on the eyes and those around you.
Conclusion
The Beam N Read 3 LED was OK I guess, but I really like the Beam N Read 6 LED version as it’s much brighter and that’s just much more useful to me as a task or project light.
The filters are fine I guess, but I’ve never really used them.
Battery life is decent, you can get up to 100 hours with 3 LEDs on or about 50 hours with all 6 LEDs lit up.
The strap is elastic and adjustable but more importantly it’s soft and comfortable to wear for long periods.
The Beam N Read 6 LED is not a bad product really. I personally won’t be using it for reading but I’ve got many other uses for it.
+Very bright
+Multiple uses
+Decent battery life
Cons:
-A bit expensive
