You don’t hear much from Benq really… but they’ve got a nice announcement today!
BenQ Equips Latest Netbooks and All-in-One PCs With SRS Labs TruSurround HD and Headphone 360
SANTA ANA, Calif., June 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — SRS Labs, Inc. (NASDAQ:SRSL) , the industry leader in surround sound, audio, and voice technologies, announced today that digital lifestyle product provider BenQ will incorporate SRS TruSurround HD(TM) and Headphone 360(TM) audio solutions within BenQ’s nScreen i91 and i92 all-in-one PCs, and the BenQ U102 netbook, all of which have been designed specifically for a more enjoyable Internet experience with their simple set-up and friendly interface.
“Netbooks and all-in-one PCs continue to grow in terms of popularity, however their audio and multimedia capabilities are often limited due to their tiny built in speakers courtesy of their unique designs and small form factors. Having SRS TruSurround HD and Headphone 360 built-in to these new small devices enable the most uncompromised and immersive sound possible, creating an impressive 3D multimedia experience,” said Allen H. Gharapetian, Vice President of Product Marketing for SRS Labs. “We are thrilled to expand our relationship with BenQ and welcome the opportunity to make their great products even better.”
As a robust multichannel audio solution SRS TruSurround HD provides BenQ users with a uniquely enhanced listening experience by processing up to 6.1 audio channels for playback over two speakers. SRS’ proprietary algorithms make it possible to optimize the entertainment for deep bass, dialog clarity for better intelligibility of vocals, and definition control for maximum high-frequency clarity. When receiving multichannel content, TruSurround HD virtualizes the channels, creating “phantom” speakers that appear to extend all around the listener, producing an amazingly realistic surround sound effect. Meanwhile, mono or stereo content is seamlessly converted into an expansive three-dimensional sound field.
SRS Headphone 360 accepts up to 5.1 channels of multichannel content, such as DVDs, and decodes it using SRS’ award-winning digital processing technology to create an immersive surround sound experience over headphones. Rear and surround channels are processed separately from front channels making them sound like they’re behind and to the side of the listener. In addition, Headphone 360 utilizes patented SRS solutions that boost the clarity of voice and dialog and offer a fuller bass presence. Additionally, regardless of the number of present audio channels this audio solution seamlessly detects and processes the content to consistently produce the most immersive experience possible.
“BenQ strives to keep its products on the cutting edge of technology, and therefore designs each product with the end user experience in mind,” said Peter Chen, General Manager of BenQ’s Technology Product Center. “Quality sound is as important to our customers as display quality and processor speed. By integrating SRS Labs’ world class audio enhancement solutions into our products, we’re able to provide our customers with an extraordinary multimedia experience.”
The BenQ nScreen i91 and i92’s all-in-one PCs’ offers content options labeled graphically as “music,” “movie” and “senior.” As is commonly understood, the ability to hear and comprehend higher frequency sounds and pitches naturally degrades as users age. Keeping that in mind, BenQ and SRS developed the “Senior Mode” to intuitively compensate for hearing loss by enhancing the clarity of higher frequency sounds to provide a far more enjoyable listening experience.
BenQ’s SRS-equipped netbooks and all-in-one PCs will be available later this year at retail locations throughout China, Taiwan and the Asia Pacific region.
SRS Labs’ sweepstakes to give away three netbook PCs ends today June 23rd at 12:00 p.m. PDT. To enter for your chance to win, please visit http://www.srslabs.com/premiumsound.
