I was going to say who would buy this for their child really, but then I looked at and saw that it’s only $5 per month more after the initial $80 price for the GizmoPal so it might be worth it. If my son was younger I might want something like this for him really. The GizmoPal is by LG and it’s a wearable or watch and it let you keep track of your small child via GPS but it also lets him or her call you and you call them. You can program two numbers into it and they can call you if they need to. I don’t think it’s too bad really, kind of neat…
LG Electronics and Verizon Wireless today announced that the kid-friendly GizmoPal By LG is available in Verizon Wireless stores nationwide and online at
“With GizmoPal, LG is expanding its wearables portfolio with this latest solution, designed specifically to keep families in closer contact,” said Morris Lee, senior vice president and head of North American sales and marketing, LG Electronics MobileComm USA Inc. “We continue to center our design and innovation efforts around simplicity and, with GizmoPal, we’re bringing peace of mind to parents for one of their greatest treasures – their children.”
GizmoPal is worn on the wrist and comes in two colors – blue and pink. It strikes a purposeful balance to help parents stay in touch with their children, even while on the go:
- Auto Answer: Two registered guardians can quickly call their children wearing GizmoPal; calls from up to four registered phone numbers are automatically answered, even if the child does nothing
- One-Touch Calling: Children can call out to the two registered guardians with the touch of a single button
- Location Check: With the GizmoPal app, parents can receive scheduled updates and notifications of their child’s current location and location history using GPS technologies1
Drawing on its heritage of products with long-lasting battery life, GizmoPal features a 400 mAh battery. The device will sound a notification and notifies the GizmoPal app when the battery is low and needs to be charged. A red LED light changes to green when the device is fully charged. The GizmoPal app is compatible with smartphones and tablets with Android 4.0 or higher and iOS 7 or higher. The primary caregiver will have the ability to add or change the secondary caregiver, approve up to three registered contacts who can contact the GizmoPal band and update software for the device.
