Now this is what I like to see, educational apps for kids! My 5yr old comes home sometimes and tells me that they let him use an iPod Touch in school to play games on, I hope it has things like this on it.
-GoodieWorld, LLC., a leading developer of innovative, educational applications for preschoolers, today announced that its popular children’s educational app GoodieWords is now generally available in the iTunes store for the iPhone, iTouch and iPad. The Company has also added a new 15-word bundled version in addition to the original GoodieWordsFree 3-word pack.
“GoodieWords is designed with several goals in mind: to teach more difficult words to preschoolers, to challenge young minds to learn those words and concepts at an earlier age, and to help children build confidence as they learn”
First introduced as a free beta version in 2010, GoodieWords immediately established its rank in the Top 10 Educational Apps on iTunes. Designed to challenge preschoolers with important words that can otherwise be difficult to define and describe in a kid-friendly way, GoodieWords’ ‘dual curriculum’ approach also introduces children to technology and hardware they’ll be using as part of their education for years to come.
GoodieWords was developed with input from leading educational experts from Stanford University and New York City’s The Dalton School. According to Brigid Barron, Associate Professor of Education and Learning Sciences at Stanford University, “Vocabulary development is at the heart of becoming a strong reader and communicator. This application offers young children the opportunity to playfully explore challenging concepts and learn the meanings of words through friendly definitions. Parents can support this learning by engaging their child in conversation about these concepts during game play and everyday activity.”
“GoodieWords is designed with several goals in mind: to teach more difficult words to preschoolers, to challenge young minds to learn those words and concepts at an earlier age, and to help children build confidence as they learn,” said Adam Gittlin, Founder and CEO, GoodieWorld, LLC. “With upwards of 100 million iPads and iPhones projected to be in use by the end of 2012, we have the opportunity to reach millions of children and help them enhance their vocabulary and proficiency with the technology that will be a significant part of their educational repertoire.”
GoodieWords offers numerous benefits to children and their parents:
- Defines hard to explain words and concepts such as fingerprint, shadow, energy and time
- Engages children with fun, interactive activities, characters and music
- Improves hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills as children gain proficiency with tablet hardware
- Multi-platform availability means on-the-go access to fun, educational activities anytime, anywhere
The new GoodieWords app provides 15 new words for $4.99. The GoodieWordsFree version is also available across all platforms. Both versions are available in the iTunes store for the iPad and iPad 2, iPhone (3G and iPhone 4) and the iTouch.
