Up for review today I have one of those products that I’ll be using mostly for not it’s primary intended use. The product is a vacuum sealer and it’s from Gourmia, it’s made to vacuum food but it just has so many more uses around the house. A sealer is great for anything that needs to be kept air and water tight and is great for pretty much anything you can think of. It would be great for packing your stuff for camping and hiking too so it can fall into the outdoor category easily. Anyway, I love this thing really. Read on to learn more…
Specifications and Features
The sealer is black plastic and it feels fairly heavy and well made. It’s about 14.25” long and about 5.75” deep and about 3 inches high. On the top is the control panel with options for vacuum&seal/cancel, manual seal, manual vacuum and then there’s a round panel with choices for dry, moist, soft and delicate which are for the type of food and it regulates the vacuum power.
The right and left side of the sealed has a single button for unlocking the sealer lid, you just push them in to unlock the lid after you make your seal.
The lids opens to reveal the vacuum chamber on the bottom and the heat sealer on the top. You’ll also see a small round piece sticking up on the right side of the chamber, that’s so you can attach a hose and vacuum seal containers with that ability.
The bottom has the ID label along with four rubber non-slip feet and a space for cord storage which is handy. The cord is about 58 inches long which should be goof for most uses in the kitchen.
Here’s the bone I vacuum sealed in the video above, it’s very sealed, and my dog had fun actually ripping it open. The sealer is very easy to use, really just push a button and wait a few seconds and it’s done.
Since the sealer only came with 10 bags in total I bought four more rolls, two different brands for testing of 8 inch and 11 inch sized bags. I vacuum sealed a whole lot of stuff with this product and I have to say it works great, it’s simple to use and quick to seal. Time to seal depends on what you’re sealing and how much air is in it so the time varies but it seems fast to me. In the pictures below there’s rubber gloves, work gloves, a raincoat and four pairs of plastic disposable coveralls.
I have a 3D printer and you need to keep filament dry as it absorbs moisture and causes issues printing. The Gourmia vacuum sealer is perfect for sealing rolls of filament and if you seal it close to the edge you can even re-use the same bag a few times and keep the roll sealed.
Conclusion
The Gourmia GVS45 is one of those products that just has multiple uses around the home for more than just the kitchen, I just love this thing really.
I used it a lot over the last couple weeks, and I mean a lot, I went though the sample bags and a 50 foot roll of 8 inch bags and several feet of 11 inch bags off the roll so far and I have plans to use it more. My wife joked that she was going to come home from work and find the house vacuumed in plastic.
The Gourmia sealer is just an excellent product in my opinion, it works great and it’s easy to use, I’m very happy with it.
