Lights, lights and more lights, yep I’ve got another one for review today and then another one tomorrow! Today for review I’ve got the OxyLed N05 which is a single LED tap light that can be used for like in your closest, which is exactly what I used it for. It’s a tap light but it’s a touch sensitive tap light that you can adjust the brightness by touching it. Read on to learn more…
Specifications and Features
The light is small and round, it’s about the size of a hockey puck really and it sort of feels like one. It’s solidly made and has a single LED in the center. The surface around the LED is the touch surface, touch here and the light powers on but you have to use two fingers, one on each side of the LED. The dimensions are 3.9 x 3.8 x 1.5 inches and it weighs in at about 3.2 ounces.
The back is the battery cover but you’ll also find 3M tape so you can safely and reliably mount it wherever you need to.
The battery cover is unique in that in the center is a circle with screw threads on it which holds the cover on. The OxyLed requires three AAA batteries for power which they don’t include.
The single LED is very bright but it can be adjusted from very low or dim up to very high.
To use the light you need to touch your fingers on each side of the LED, if you hold them there the light will cycle from dim to bright and you just need to let go when it reaches the level of brightness you want.
The light remembers the last setting it was on so if you have it set to high and turn it off then when you turn it back on it will still be set to high.
The only issue is the fact that there is no automatic shut-off so if you forget and leave it on you’ll run the battery down.
Conclusion
The OxyLed N05 can be used anywhere you need light like in your closest and that’s where I’m currently using it. We needed more light in our clothes closet to see everything and I just hadn’t gotten around to running any electrical wires so I thought this would be perfect and for the most part it is. It projects light mostly downward and a bit spread out, it’s more of a spotlight so I think I still need to add more lights in the closet, but for right now it works great. The light is more than bright enough to light up the closet and I can see my clothes well enough to pick what I want.
The light can be adjusted and the touch area is more than sensitive enough in my opinion, just tap two fingers and it comes on.
The only small issue is the fact that there is no automatic shut-off, other than that it’s great and I like it a lot.
Pros:
+Well made
+Bright
+Multiple brightness levels
Cons:
-No auto shut off
