The Review
Let’s start out with a video unboxing and then move on from there:
The packaging for the SantaMedical IR thermometer is nice looking with plenty of information on it. When you open it up you’ll find a plastic tray with the thermometer held in place and a pair of batteries. Under the tray is the user guide and a cloth drawstring bag so you can store the thermometer in when not in use.
The thermometer is blue and gray in color with a nice large LCD display on the top and below that are three buttons for Mode, Celsius/Fahrenheit and Memory. Towards the bottom you’ll find a large button which is the main button for checking the temperatures and then below that is a speaker.
On the bottom is just the battery compartment where you can put the included batteries into.
On the side is a small blue button to turn the sound on and off and then the front is the infrared sensor.
The thermometer has three modes for Room, Surface and Body and you change them by just pressing the mode button to cycle through them. The thermometer can be used for more than just taking someone’s temperature which makes it that much more useful.
To use the thermometer you really just point and click the button, very simple to do even a child could do it. You need to be between one inch and four inches away for an accurate reading though. I checked my own temperature and compared it to the Easy@Home infrared thermometer I have here and got the same results so I would have to say it’s accurate.
Conclusion
The SantaMedical IR thermometer is a decent product and I like the fact that it can not only check body temps, but surface and room so it’s much more useful.
I compared it to another IR thermometer I have on hand and I got the same results so I would have to say that it’s accurate.
The thermometer seems well made overall, it’s small and lightweight and very portable so you take it with you if needed.
All in all it’s not a bad choice if you’re looking for a new IR thermometer.
Pros:
+Simple to use
+Accurate
+Multiple uses besides body temp
-None really
