The Samsung Galaxy S6 is an excellent phone but the battery life isn’t that great, I find myself recharging it at least once per day, and more often if I use it more. You could carry an external battery with you, that’s an option and you can always make sure you have a car charger but sometimes neither of those is an option. Today for review I have the 4000mAh Extended Battery Case for Samsung Galaxy S6 from 1byone and it’s just like it sounds, a case with as built-in battery for your S6. Read on to learn more..

Once you get everything unpacked, you won’t find much, just the case, USB charging cable and the user guide.

 

The case is black plastic and on the back at the bottom you’ll find the 1byone logo along with four LEDs to indicate power in 25% increments and the power button used to check the battery status level and to initiate charging of your phone.

 

 

The inside of the case has six small rubber dots that your phone rests on and it keeps it in place and protects it so your phone doesn’t actually contact the case. The S6 looks very nice on the back and you wouldn’t want to damage it in any way, this case should not damage it.

 

At the bottom edge inside of the case is the microUSB port for charging the phone with the internal 4000mAh battery and on the opposite on the outside of the case is the corresponding microUSB port to charge the battery itself.

 

 

The case has its own buttons for those on the phone and holes for the microphones and IR port.

 

  

 

To get your S6 in the case you need to take it apart, the top section is basically a thin rim around the phone that snaps on and off.

 

 

You just put your phone in connected to the microUSB port and then snap the top cover over it and you’re done. The case adds a bit of length to the phone at the bottom and the back for the camera is wide open so the case will not interfere with it. The buttons work fine, they actually stick out every so slightly to make it easier to feel them. The phone fits snugly in the case you just have to make sure you clip the top down all the way around when you’re putting the case together.

  

  

 

Conclusion

The 1byone 4000mAh Extended Battery Case for Samsung Galaxy S6 works as advertised, it can give you more run time from your phone and that’s a good thing.

The case is simple to use, just pop it apart and put your phone in, not a problem here. The case seems well made, it’s hard plastic and should protect your phone from falls, not sure if the case will survive but the phone should.

It seems I have to charge my S6 at least once per day, sometimes twice if I use it more and this case. Thankfully I work from home so power isn’t really an issue but there have been times when I’ve had to run out and not charged my phone and had to dig out my cable and charger for the car to charge the phone while on the go. This case can eliminate the need to worry about charging and it might be good to take camping or hiking with you or on a weekend where you know you might be away from power for an extended period of time. It’s not a waterproof case so not sure about outdoor use, but you could keep it in a bag or something similar, it’s better than having to carrying an external battery I would think.

All in all the 1byone 4000mAh Extended Battery Case for Samsung Galaxy S6 is not a bad product if you look at the function of it, but it just adds too much weight and bulk to the Galaxy S6.

One of the things that I love about the phone is that it’s very thin and lightweight, but this case about doubles the thickness of the phone and makes it larger overall. The S6 is .27 inches thick but the 1byone case is .54 inches thick so you’ve added a lot of thickness to the phone. You might not think that’s much, and I didn’t really until I put my phone in it and held it in my hand, there’s a huge difference with the case on.

The S6 is also a very lightweight phone at 4.8 ounces but this case is 5.5 ounces so you more than double the weight to over a half a pound you’re carrying around with you.
