NAP Adds 2.5 Inch Hard Disk Support To Its Turbo NAS Lineup Of High Performance NAS Servers
Addition of 2.5" Hard Disk Support for QNAP’s Intel® Based NAS Servers Gives Users More Choices, Lower Power Consumption
Taipei, Taiwan, August 2009 – QNAP Systems, Inc. a leading manufacturer of world class NAS servers, NVR video surveillance systems, and network-based video players for business and consumer markets today announced the support for 2.5" hard drives in the company’s Intel-based Turbo NAS lineup of high performance NAS servers. At present, QNAP is the pioneering NAS server enclosure manufacturer to support both 2.5" and 3.5" SATA hard drives.
The addition of 2.5" drive support gives users more drive choices at a time when there is a plethora of 2.5" hard drives available due to the softness in the notebook PC market. 2.5" hard drives designed for notebook PCs offer solid performance coupled with much lower power consumption and outstanding reliability. The new 2.5" hard drive support is designed into most of QNAP’s Intel x86 CPU based models, including the TS-239 Pro, TS-439 Pro, TS-509 Pro, TS-639 Pro, and TS-809 Pro for flexible selection. 2.5" drives can also be used on the TS-809U-RP 2U rack mount Turbo NAS server with redundant power supply.
"QNAP is giving users more choices when it comes to drive selection" said Meiji Chang, CEO of QNAP Systems, Inc. "Flexibility and lower power consumption are always welcome features for our customers" Mr. Chang added.
