“Samsung remains committed to delivering truly authentic audio experiences,” said John Revie, senior vice president of Home Entertainment at Samsung Electronics America. “We are proud to introduce this new line of products that offer consumers a premium home entertainment experience, whether they are looking for an all-in-one or an advanced audio solution – all with a sleek and modern design that people have come to expect from Samsung.”
AV Receiver Line Delivers Premium Audio Experience
Samsung’s line of AV Receivers have the new Crystal Amplifier Pro technology, which includes Multi-Variable Feedback Circuitry and Intelligent Power features to ensure accurate sound reproduction. Multi-Variable Feedback Circuitry filters sound distortion and noise to provide pure sound performance. These technologies ensure the sounds listeners hear are as close to authentic as possible.
In addition, Samsung’s line of receivers comes with 4 HDMI Inputs and supports HDMI 1.4 for 3D as well as iPod/iPhone docks. The HW-C700 comes in two colors, silver and black, while the others come in black and is designed to be paired with the BD-C6500 Blu-ray player. The HW-C900 includes video up-scaling, video up-conversion, and multi-zone functionality.
HW-C770S and the HW-C560S Deliver Complete Home Theater Solutions
For those interested in the best-in-sound experience of these new premium standalone AV Receivers, but want the total package, Samsung is delivering the 7.1 channel HW-C770BS and the 5.1 channel HW-C560S. Both support HDMI 1.4 for 3D, come with 4 HDMI Inputs, and combine a state-of-the-art audio experience with an all-in-one, beautifully designed package that matches the stunning design of other products in the 2010 Samsung home theater and HDTV lineup. Both models also include iPod docks. In addition, the 7.1 channel HW-C770BS offers 3D surround, Dolby Digital® True HD and DTS HD decoding, and an active subwoofer. This is a great option for those who want an affordable, powerful, all-in-one entertainment solution straight out of the box.

Samsung Electronics America Inc., market leaders and award-winning innovators in consumer electronics, have launched Samsung Apps, the first HDTV-based application store where users can download applications from select 2010 Samsung HDTVs, Blu-ray Players and Home Theater systems via the upgraded Internet@TV – Content Service. Samsung Apps provides consumers with an expanded, easy to navigate selection of content and applications from leading services like The Associated Press, Netflix, Pandora, Twitter, USA TODAY, and VUDU. More than 20 apps will be available by the end of March*, with hundreds expected by the end of the year. “Samsung Apps will be offered in numerous TV models as well as across our Blu-ray Players and Home Theater Systems, so consumers can conveniently access a variety of content through many forms that fit their needs.”
Samsung’s established leadership in the “connected TV” space began in 2008 with RSS feeds via its InfoLink feature, then extended to launching Internet@TV in 2009 and being the first to launch Blockbuster’s streaming movie rental and purchase service on select HDTVs and Blu-ray players. The introduction of Samsung Apps delivers a faster and more flexible platform that provides consumers with an expanded, easy-to-navigate selection of content and applications from leading content providers and services. Applications can be downloaded and viewed all while watching TV. Premium apps will be available for purchase via the platform’s transactional interface in the second half of 2010.
“We are making a significant step forward in delivering a more personalized, navigable and easy to use connected TV experience,” said John Revie, senior vice president of home entertainment for Samsung Electronics America. “Samsung Apps will be offered in numerous TV models as well as across our Blu-ray Players and Home Theater Systems, so consumers can conveniently access a variety of content through many forms that fit their needs.”
A New Dimension of Home Entertainment
Apps available for download today meet a variety of consumer interests and can be viewed while watching TV. They span information, video, lifestyle, games, and sports. For example, you can track breaking news while watching your favorite TV show from the comfort of your couch. For those who love to rent movies, video apps include a multitude of movies available for streaming in HD quality. Additionally, several apps in 2010 will allow interactivity between HDTVs and select Samsung WiFi-enabled phones. Consumers, for example, will be able to play Texas hold ’em poker with friends, where the TV screen shows the table and the phone serves as the controller, while showing cards in your hand like a real poker game.
Developer Opportunity
Content and application developers will have new opportunities to build applications, content and services through the Samsung Apps Software Developers Kit (SDK). The forthcoming developers program will be an open platform that encourages anyone from premium content owners to individual developers, to create their own applications. Samsung expects many additional partners to become Samsung App developers by the end of 2010.

“Our commitment to innovation has always been strong. We’re not only delivering elegant design and eco-friendly energy consumption, but we’re adding a new dimension to superior home entertainment through a broad lineup of 3D LED TVs,” said John Revie, vice president of Home Entertainment for Samsung Electronics America. “We are passionate about this year’s LED TV lineup as we once again raise the bar on technology innovation by delivering a superior TV experience and leadership in the HDTV space.”
Built-in 3D
This year’s premium LED TV models, the C7000, C8000 and C9000, feature Samsung’s Real240Hz™ refresh rate technology and Samsung’s proprietary built-in 3D processor that is compatible with major 3D format standards. While the TVs are optimized for viewing 3D content, the built in 3D processor lets you render 2D content into 3D in real time.
Combined with the company’s 3D Blu-ray player or home theater system (BD-C6900 and HT-C6930W), and unique Samsung-designed 3D Active Glasses, Samsung offers a total 3D solution for home entertainment. To further kick-start the 3D experience, consumers, for a limited time, will receive a free 3D Starter Kit with the purchase of a Samsung 3D HDTV and either the Samsung BD-C6900 3D Blu-ray Player or the HT-C6930W 3D Home Theater System. Included in the kit is a 3D version of “Monsters vs. Aliens”® and two pairs of Samsung 3D Active Glasses.
Unsurpassed Picture Quality with Precision Dimming
Samsung’s LED C8000 and C6800 include Samsung’s Precision Dimming technology that merges the advantages of LED edge-lighting with the control of local dimming technology in directly back-lit LED televisions. Precision Dimming uses an array of special LEDs that create diamond-shaped areas of light to illuminate objects on the panel. These areas can vary in size and shape according to the light required, and an algorithm calculates where the light should be targeted to intensify contrast. The result: higher contrast ratios, deeper blacks, vibrant colors and enhanced energy efficiency.
Connected TV and Samsung Apps
The LED 6500, 6800, 7000, 8000 and 9000 come with Internet@TV connectivity which includes Samsung Apps, allowing users, with internet access or a wireless network with our Link Stick* (or similar), to download and view applications on their TV screens. Samsung Apps provides consumers with a broad selection of content and applications from leading services like The Associated Press, Netflix, Pandora, Twitter, USA TODAY, and VUDU. More than 20 apps should launch by the end of March, with more to come.**
Also included is Allshare™ for wireless connectivity and multimedia sharing across DLNA® Certified devices, allowing consumers to wirelessly transfer photos, movies and music from PCs, mobile phones and digital cameras to their TV for big screen viewing at home with friends and family.
Focus on Design
In 2010, Samsung builds on its tradition of innovative design by introducing narrower bezels and brushed metal frames in silver and black – pushing the limits beyond the familiar black bezels of many HDTV’s. The LED TVs are very slim, with the 7000 Series measuring one-inch, and LED C8000 measuring 0.9 inches and the LED C9000 measuring a pencil thin 0.3 inches. For select models, Samsung also developed a groundbreaking four-legged quad stand that makes the TV look more like furniture and a new “mystic earth” Touch of Color™ (ToC™) design scheme with chrome edging to better match a living room’s décor. The new LED TVs match Samsung’s 2010 line of Blu-ray players and home theater systems.
Green Efficiency
All these functionalities are delivered without compromising on the energy efficiency that Samsung LED TVs are known for and meet even higher standards of sustainability. They all exceed the more stringent EnergyStar® 4.0 guidelines, and are slimmer and lighter for easier shipping and storing. The 2010 LED TVs are the highest performing and most eco-conscious HDTV products Samsung has ever released.
The Touch Screen Remote Control
The C9000 Series come equipped with a premium 3-inch color touch-screen remote control – which features a live feed of the channel you’re currently watching. For the C9000 only, the easy to use, full touch-screen remote control comes complete with an earphone jack and Twin View, which lets you watch TV or Blu-ray DVD titles on the remote or TV at the same time. The remote includes Allshare and a QWERTY keyboard for the LED C7000, C8000 and C9000, and at 2.4 Ghz, its integrated Wi-Fi and infrared technology controls the TV, STB and AV devices with on-screen buttons. The touch screen remote is available as an accessory for the LED C7000 and C8000, as well as select LCD and Plasma Series.
Accessories
The LinkStick makes it easy to connect to online content and acts like a thumb drive. When connected to a USB 2.0 port, it allows for online connectivity, offering easy access to Samsung Apps and InfoLink™ RSS data.
Samsung’s innovative ultra-slim wall-mount solutions enhance Samsung’s latest ultra-thin televisions by reducing the gap between the TV and the wall to a mere 0.6 inches, making the experience similar to hanging a picture frame. They feature a unique cord system to help you stay untangled for a neat and organized appearance. The wall mounts come in two versions that support various TV models.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a market leader and award-winning innovator in consumer electronics, today made another stride toward redefining the home entertainment experience by officially announcing the world’s first-available Full HD 3D LED TV and full lineup of 3D home entertainment products to consumers worldwide. Samsung also announced today the expansion of its strategic alliance with DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc. (Nasdaq: DWA) to feature an exclusive offering of the Company’s beloved Shrek film series – which to date has grossed over $2 billion in worldwide box office – in its entirety in 3D for the first time ever.
“With the widest range of options for 3D home solutions ever, Samsung continues to lead the home entertainment industry by liberating 2D content to 3D, and creating new, immersive experiences for consumers.”
To make 3D TV more accessible for consumers globally, Samsung unveiled a promotional program where everyone who purchases a 2010 Samsung 3D TV and 3D Blu-ray Player or Home Theater System will receive a 3D starter kit that includes two pairs of Samsung 3D active glasses and a first time, feature-length 3D Blu-ray version of DreamWorks Animation’s 2009 release, Monsters vs. Aliens (exclusive to Samsung products). Additionally, during the second half of 2010, the most successful animated film franchise of all time – DreamWorks Animation’s Shrek film series – will be available in 3D Blu-ray for Samsung home solutions.
“Samsung has been the number one company in the global TV market for four straight years, and we remain committed to leading the market by deploying new categories of entertainment like Full HD 3D LED TVs, on which consumers around the world will be able to enjoy their favorite content, including DreamWorks Animation’s Shrek franchise, in their homes,” said Boo-Keun Yoon, President of Visual Display Business Unit at Samsung Electronics. “With the widest range of options for 3D home solutions ever, Samsung continues to lead the home entertainment industry by liberating 2D content to 3D, and creating new, immersive experiences for consumers.”
“It is an incredibly exciting time for the industry at large, as we continue to see the proliferation of 3D in theaters globally at unprecedented rates and now – thanks to Samsung’s innovation leading the charge – the capability to deliver a truly premium 3D experience for consumers in their homes. We are thrilled to be able to offer audiences the exciting opportunity to bring the world and characters of all of our Shrek movies home with them this year in 3D,” said Jeffrey Katzenberg, Chief Executive Officer of DreamWorks Animation.
The news was delivered at Samsung’s Full HD 3D LED TV global launch press conference held in New York City today, one of several global events this week created by the company to invite influencers and consumers to enjoy all the capabilities of Samsung’s 3D technology leadership.
Global Product Availability
Samsung will launch the broadest line of 3D home entertainment products in 2010. Its 3D TV lineup includes the LED 7000/8000/9000 Series, LCD 750 Series, and the Plasma 7000/8000 Series. Available this month are the 3D capable 46” and 55” LED C7000, with the remaining 3D TVs rolling out over the next several months. Samsung is delivering 3D the way it was meant to be watched, combining the Samsung BD-C6900 3D Blu-ray player or the Samsung HT-C6930W 3D Blu-ray integrated home theater system, stylish 3D active glasses and movie in Blu-ray 3D. The result: Full HD with lifelike depth and color clarity at home.
First to Market Full HD 3D LED TV Raises Bar for TV Excellence
This year’s premium LED TV models, the C7000, C8000 and C9000, feature Samsung’s Real240Hz™ refresh rate technology and Samsung’s proprietary built-in 3D processor that is compatible with major 3D format standards. Samsung’s 3D technology and a faster panel optimized for 3D work together to deliver an immersive viewing experience. When not in the 3D mode, you’re back to watching one of the best performing HDTVs on the market with the push of a button.
The LED TVs come with Internet@TV connectivity which includes the world’s first HDTV app store, Samsung Apps, allowing users to download and view applications on their TV screens. The 3D LED TVs are also the highest performing and most eco-conscious HDTV products Samsung has ever released, all exceeding the more stringent EnergyStar 4.0 guidelines.
Taking the Wonder of 3D to people’s home
In the US, Samsung is launching a holistic marketing campaign under the name “Dedicated to Wonder,” a high-profile marketing effort that includes television advertising and the first 3D Cinema advertising (Spot?) for a consumer electronics brand. Samsung assembled an elite production crew, including the Oscar-winning director of photography, Mauro Fiore, and is bringing the wonder of the 3D experience to life with this new marketing campaign. New commercials will begin hitting the air this week, highlighting Samsung’s 3D technology and the wonder it brings to the home entertainment experience.
Samsung’s in-store display plan is also key to exposing consumers to the technology and educating them on the value of 3D. Samsung’s internal research shows that while awareness of 3D technology is high, less than a third of consumers have had any experience with it. For this reason, Samsung is strengthening marketing activities in an effort to make it easier for consumers to experience 3D. In 2010, consumers can expect to experience this immersive experience in more than 5,000 stores across the nation. Displays will start being deployed later in the month.
