Camping and hiking, my son is in Boy Scouts and I like the outdoors and I try and get things for review for him and me as we can put them to good use. Today for review I’ve got the ActyKit Sleeping Pad and Pillow bundle that would be great for camping and easy to take hiking as it folds up small. The pad and pillow are inflatable and come packaged in a drawstring bag. The pillow and pad are well made and easy to inflate, they’re comfortable as well. Read on to learn more….
Specifications and Features
Once you get everything unpacked you’ll find that mat wrapped up, the pillow inside of its own drawstring bag, a page with camping and hiking tips and then they include a metal bear bottle opener.
We’ll start with the pillow, when you take it out of the drawstring bag you’ll find it has a soft cloth covering on it, one side is green with the ActyKit logo and then the bottom is black.
The valve is dual, you open the first valve to blow air in and fill the pillow. To un-inflate the pillow you pull the valve out again to reveal just an empty hole that quickly let’s the air out.
It only took about 15 breaths to fill the pillow with air. It has four chambers and a curved shape to it. The pillow is soft and comfortable, the cloth covering is nice to lie on.
The sleeping mat comes rolled up and it has an elastic band on it to keep it rolled for storage. The valve is the same style as the pillow but slightly different, it’s more of a cross design, but it works the same.
The sleeping mat is bright orange in color and when inflated it has a quilted pattern to it. The mat took a lot more than 15 breathes to fill up but it wasn’t too hard really, it went faster than I expected.
Sleeping on the mat is a unique experience, it’s comfortable yes, but it can be annoying in that it makes a crinkly sound when you move, but I guess that can’t be helped as that’s the material it is. It is comfortable to sleep on and it seems durable and well made. It’s nice and long, I’m 6 foot tall and it’s fine for me, I was worried that it might be too short but it’s a little longer than me.
Conclusion
The ActyKit sleeping pad and pillow bundle would be great for camping and hiking as it’s very portable, it shouldn’t take up much space in your bag and it’s lightweight.
The pillow and pad are comfortable to sleep on but the pad makes crinkle noises when you move and it can be annoying, but other than that it’s decent.
Pros:
+Nice combination kit
+Easy to fill and unfill with air
+Seems well made and durable
+Comfortable to sleep on
Cons:
-Can be annoying with crinkly sound mat makes
