Today I’ve got another review in the outdoors category and it’s something interesting. It’s a water bottle yes, but it’s a silicone bottle that can collapse to a tiny size when empty making it very portable. The bottle is made of food grade soft silicone also it feels kind of weird when full but it works just fine. I was skeptical at first of as soft silicone bottle, but not anymore. Read on to learn more…
Specifications and Features
The bottle arrives already collapsed and on the side is a rubber band like fastener that holds it collapsed when not in use. The idea is that when you’re done drinking you collapse it to save space in your pack and the rubber band helps to keep it collapsed. Nice idea that works. There’s also a carabineer hooked to the top so you can attach it to your bag or bike or wherever.
Once you unroll the bottle it will stayed semi-collapsed, but when you open the top air gets let it and it takes the familiar shape of a bottle.
The top has a double opening on it. You can unscrew and remove the whole top to fill it or drink from it, but the top also has a flip open lid which actually has tiny holes in it to control the flow. You actually have to squeeze the bottle for liquid to flow out or you could suck on it like a baby bottle if you wanted to. The point is that with the flip top open the liquid really won’t flow freely out of the bottle.
As you’re drinking the bottle will collapse back to it’s original shape, then you can just roll it up when you’re done and stow it away. I was a bit skeptical of the soft silicone as I wasn’t sure it would stand up when full but it did, even when I drank most of it, it was still standing up just fine.
When you fill the bottle up it does have a funky and squishy feel to it, it’s odd, hard to describe, kind of like those toys for kids that were squishy and filled with water.
Conclusion
The bottle is made from food grade silicone and honestly I wasn’t sure about it as it’s very soft, I thought it might easy break or puncture, but I filled it with water and tossed it on the floor and on the ground and it was fine, no holes or anything. It seems durable for sure. Even if something did happen the company offers a lifetime replacement guarantee, so that’s a bonus right there I think.
The bottle can hold about 17 ounces of liquid and it can be hot or cold and the opening is large enough to fit small ice cubes in it.
The bottle will sweat depending on the temperature so keep that in mind.
There is no flavor from the bottle added to your drink.
All in all it’s not a bad product I think, it works and it’s surprisingly durable.
Pros:
+Durable and well made
+Works like advertised
+Very portable
Cons:
-None really
