nitefoxled5
Flashlights, I just love them, they’re so handy and useful. Today for review I’ve got a tiny little LED flashlight called the K3 from a company called Nitefox. This little light is IPX8 waterproof meaning you can even use it under water if you needed to, but it’ll be fine in the rain of course making it a great light for camping, hiking, emergencies or just walking your dog at night. It’s a great little light, I like it a lot. Read on to learn more…

Inside of the box you’ll find the flashlight itself, user manual, diffuser and bag of accessories that include an extra rubber o-ring, pocket clip and keychain attachment.

The K3 LED flashlight is tiny actually, it uses a single AAA battery for power. The flashlight is about 2.75” long and .5 inches in diameter at the thickest part. The light is made of aluminum and feels very well made and durable. The light is ipx8 waterproof so you can use it in pretty much any situation as it’s rated for water over 3 feet/1 meter deep so you can use it in a thunderstorm or underwater up to about 3 meters supposedly.

The tail of the light has a small hole so you can attach the keychain that came with it. The front is where the Cree XP-G2 LED is located which supposedly outputs 150 lumens at the highest setting. The light unscrews at the front section where the LED is to reveal the batter compartment, here is where you’ll also see the rubber o-ring that keeps the water out. The front is also the power switch which has three levels and a strobe mode. The modes are moonlight, low and high, which I think of as just low, medium and high really. To turn it on you twist the cap, to switch modes you twist off and on and the modes switch. To activate the strobe mode though you have to twist off and on very fast. Switching the modes is easy once you get the hang of it.

The light comes with a diffuser cap which I very much like, this allows you to use the flashlight as a torch to illuminate a wider area near you but it can also stand up by itself on the tail end.

The K3 light is very bright on high, yes it’s easily 150 lumens for sure but not meant to light up far distances in front of you, it’s more for closer things like walking on a trail or just walking your dog, it’s more than bright enough to illuminate your path for sure. It will light up most of a room a room though, more than enough to see what you need to and where you need to go. It’s a nice little light really.

I did run across a small issue, and that’s that it can get very hot if used for long periods of time. I used it to fix an outlet in my sons room and it was on high for about 10 minutes lighting the area and when I picked it up it was very hot, uncomfortably hot really.

Conclusion

The price right now on Amazon is $9.99 and for that price I think this light is well worth it, it’s very well made and it works great.

The light comes with a reusable storage box along with an extra rubber o-ring to keep the flashlight waterproof.

The K3 flashlight comes with a diffuser which I really like, it allows you to spread the light more evenly and in a 360 degree area.

The K3 has several modes which can easily be switched to just by twisting the head of the light.

All in all I like this light a lot, it’s very well made of aluminum, it’s bright and easy to use.

Pros:
+Inexpensive
+Very well made, durable and waterproof
+Comes with diffuser

Cons:
-Can get hot after extended use
