Asustor makes as great NAS and they’ve just updated their operating system to include new and better security to make sure your data and everything else stays safe and protected.

ASUSTOR Inc., a leading innovator and provider of network storage solutions, announced the release of ADM 2.6.3 core upgrades for all ASUSTOR NAS devices. In addition to providing a solution to security vulnerabilities by upgrading the core SAMBA and OpenSSL versions, ADM 2.6.3 also strengthens ADM account security be adding the 2-step authentication function. After configuration of the function, in addition to an ADM account password, users will also need a phone verification code to sign in to ADM. Now, even if their account password is stolen by malicious parties, users can still ensure the security of their accounts with this additional layer of protection. ADM 2.6.3 also supports two free push notification services in Pushbullet and Pushover. Both are available on multiple devices, across different platforms and major Web browsers. These two services allow system event notifications to be instantly pushed onto phones, mobile devices or PCs. This can significantly lower the response time for users such as system administrators, increasing productivity.

“Network security issues have always been present and are impossible to ignore. The chances of having an account password stolen is much greater that many people expect, “said Vincent Tseng, Product Manager at ASUSTOR. “ASUSTOR understands the importance of our users’ data. With regards to data security, we have specifically provided a significant upgrade that offers better protection of our users’ digital assets than ever before.”

In regards to security vulnerability issues, ADM 2.6.3 features an upgraded core which includes SAMBA 4.4 and OpenSSL 1.0.2h version upgrades to strengthen usage security. ADM 2.6.3 is available for use on all ASUSTOR series devices. It is recommended that all users upgrade online immediately in order to receive optimal security and protection.
