LED lighting is the future I think, I’ve moved about 99% of all my lights over to LEDs, just some smaller nightlights need replaced yet, but all of my main lighting is now LED based and I’m very happy with it. One of the main reasons I moved to LEDs is the cost, they’re much, much cheaper to power than standard incandescent bulbs for sure. I’ve got kids and they still haven’t learned to turn off lights so LEDs help save some money I would think in that respect. I also like the color or light that comes from LEDs, especially the daylight colors. Today for review I’ve got an LED desk lamp from Aglaia, it uses only 7 Watts of power which is like a nightlight really but this lamp also has a built-in USB port for charging phones and tablets. The light features a flexible arm so you can direct the light where you want and need it and overall it’s a great lamp, small but yet more than bright enough for any use. Read on to learn more…
Specifications and Features
The arm of the lamp is very flexible, it bends up, down, sideways and all around so you can get the light just where you want and need it. The lamp is made of aluminum and plastic and there’s a soft silicone cover over the arm section so it can flex. I got the black color for review but it’s also available in white. The lamp seems very well made and sturdy and it looks nice really.
The base of the lamp has the Aglaia logo and a power symbol, the symbol is touch sensitive and you just touch it to turn the lamp on and off and adjust the level just by tapping it. On the right side is a USB port so you charge your phone or tablet or whatever and then the back is where you plug in the power adapter. The bottom has five rubber non-slip feet to make sure the lamp stays where you put it. The base itself is heavy enough that the lamp will stay standing, but not very heavy, it’s wide to keep it stable. The lamp of course connects to the base and there’s a hinge there so you can tilt the arm back and forth to the angle you need.
The flexible arm ends with the light section that has a diffuser over the LEDs to make the light a little softer which is supposedly better to use with computer and read with. There are 15 LEDs inside that can provide up to 380 lumens of light at the maximum settings which might not seems like much but I found it’s more than enough for a computer desk for sure.
I recently moved my sons computer to his room and he needed a lamp so I gave this one to him and he’s very happy with it. You’ll have to excuse his messy desk, he’s 16 and doesn’t care about things like that of course. The Aglaia lamp is small enough to fit on most any desk, my sons desk is small as there wasn’t much space in his room so this lamp is perfect for his desk. The lamp lights up his work area just fine, it illuminates the entire desk area so he can see everything he needs to.
Conclusion
The Aglaia LED lamp is a great choice for a small desk lamp, especially where space is an issue I think, it would be great for kids room or college dorm even.
The lamp is very well made in my opinion and it looks nice really.
The lamp features touch controls for easy use and even a USB port for charging. My son really likes the USB port as it’s right there to charge his phone while he’s on the computer.
The lamp uses very little power which I think most people will appreciate but yet provides more than enough light for any use.
I should also note that the lamp is discounted right now and sells for only $17.59 on
