Up for review today I’ve got another LED desk lamp but this one is very much different than the others I’ve looked at as it’s foldable and rechargeable and it has a built-in clock, alarm clock and calendar. The Aootek foldable LED lamp is one of my favorites so far as it’s really useful because of the clock and calendar function and it’s very well made of metal and plastic. Read on to learn more…

Specifications and Features

  

 

The USB cable is the mini style so it’s fairy common which is a good thing I think. The mounting bracket has two tabs on it on the top and then 3M mounting tape on the back.

 

 

The bottom of the lamp is metal and it has four rubber feet to keep it in place on your desk and then it has two slots where the mount attaches. You can attach the mount to the wall and then you can easily slip the light off if you want to take it with you.

 

 

The top of the lamp is a brushed aluminum and it’s folded and when it’s folded it’s about 7.25” x 1.25” in dimensions and about 1” thick.

 

The lamp unfolds in three sections which each section being about 1/4” thick. The lamp can fully unfold straight to about 20.5” long.

 

 

The lamp has 18 LEDs in it with adjustable brightness.

 

The bottom section of the lamp is where you’ll find the touch sensor to turn the lamp on and off and the USB port for charging is on the back edge. The touch sensor works just by touching it for on and off, tap it and it goes on tap again and it goes off. To adjust the brightness though you hold the sensor and it goes from bright to dim and then back up again.

 

 

The center section of the lamp has what I think is the neatest part, the clock/calendar section but it’s clear. The clock displays the time, month and date along with the day of the week and the current room temperature. It’s also an alarm clock which plays a musical jingle. The controls for the clock are on the back below the display with four buttons for mode, set, up and down. The clock has an independent power source, it uses a CR2025 battery and it comes pre-installed for you and the battery compartment is below the controls. I should note the clock seems to keep good time, I set it about ten days ago to match my computer clock and it still has the same time, or it’s keeping the same time I should say.

 

 

 

When charging the lamp there’s a tiny LED next to the USB port that lights up red to indicate charging. The battery inside of the lamp is 1000mAh capacity and can last from 3 to 10 hours depending on the level of brightness.

 

According to the specs the light is 5500K temperature which seems very white to me but it’s supposed to be an ever so slightly bluish white really.

 

 

 

Conclusion

The Aootek foldable LED desk lamp is more than bright enough to read by and it would be fine for a small desk of a bedside lamp. I like the fact that it’s portable making it great to take with you traveling and since it has a calendar, clock and alarm clock in it it’s just much more useful in my opinion. You can just fold it up and take it with you, it work for traveling or maybe even taking camping with you.

I like the clock section of the lamp as it’s clear, sure it doesn’t add any functionality to it, but it does make it look very unique and just cool really.

The lamp is rechargeable over USB and can last a long time depending on the brightness setting. The USB cable is a common mini USB style so you don’t need any special cables for it which is nice.

I’ve come to like this lamp quite a bit and use it often for reading and for numerous other things.

So far I’ve found no downsides to this lamp, though I’m not sure I would call it a desk lamp as to me a desk lamp is much larger and provides more light. As is though this is a great portable lamp that offers more than just light.
