Review of BYB C8 CREE T6 LED Handheld Flashlight

bybwide6
Up for review today I’ve got another LED flashlight from our friends over at BYB but this one isn’t focus adjustable and for me that’s perfectly fine as I normally don’t adjust the beams when I’m using my lights. The light is water resistant so you can use it in the rain and it’s very well made, overall I like this light a lot. Read on to learn more…

The charger is just like other chargers I’ve owned and reviewed, it can fit the single 18650 rechargeable battery and it has a folding power plug on the back and a spring loaded tab on the front where the battery goes.

The light is a black aluminum alloy and it’s IP-4 rated water resistant which means it’s fine to use in the rain basically, but not waterproof. The light is wider at the front and the it’s not adjustable, it’s just a floodlight with a wide beam. The light slight over 5.5 inches long and the front is about 1.75 inches across while the back is only about 1 inches across.

On the back end is the rubberized tail switch which does have an audible click to turn it off and change modes. The light has five modes for high, medium, low, strobe and SOS. When you take off the end you’ll find a rubber gasket around the threads to keep the water out. The battery is already inside and it’s an 18650 at 2200mAh at 3.7v, it’s a pretty standard battery.

The front section is the LED and reflector and it can come apart for access to it. There is a rubber gasket around the threads here to keep the elements out and I should note the lens is actually made of glass which is nice to see as most of these types of lights have plastic lenses.

Some people might not like the fact that this light isn’t adjustable, but I don’t mind as the adjustable lights I do have are set to the same floodlight style to put more light out to light up a wider area. The beam on this one seems to me more of almost a combination spot and flood as it’s a wide beam but yet there’s a very bright spot in the center as well. I’ve been using this light every night for a couple weeks as I use a flashlight when I take my dogs out at night and I’m more than happy with it, it’s very bright but I’m not sure it’s actually 1000 lumens.

Conclusion

The BYB C8 is a very well made and very bright LED flashlight but it’s not focus adjustable and I personally don’t mind that at all. The LED does have five modes which could come in handy. The light isn’t waterproof but it’s water resistant so you would be fine using it in the rain.

The whole lumen rating thing is starting to annoy me honestly as every light I’ve bought, owned and/or reviewed has just some rating tossed in the description and specs and I’m not sure they actually measure it. It’s not a big issue to me as these lights are extremely bright, more than bright enough for most any needs, but I just think that companies need to come up with a real testing standard as I’ve noticed a lot of people complain about the wrong lumen ratings on these types of lights.

Pros:
+Very well made
+Inexpensive for kit
+Extremely bright
+Includes battery and charger

Cons:
-Some people might not like the fact that light is not adjustable
