Review of BYB LED Camping Headlamp Flashlight

bybled3
I seem to be reviewing  a lot of lights lately and today I have another one, but it’s not a traditional flashlight, it’s an LED headlamp with white and red LEDs in. The light is from a company called BYB and it’s very inexpensive but it’s a decent product. The light has an elastic and adjustable strap for comfort and there are different modes for the lights themselves. It’s small and lightweight and it would be great for just using around the house but you could take it camping or hiking with you and it would be great to help illuminate the way. The Review

Let’s start with the video unboxing and then continue on from there:

The packaging is just a small brown box with a label on it and inside you’ll find the headlamp wrapped in bubble wrap for protection during shipment.

Once you get everything unpacked you’ll only find the headlamp, no instructions are included.

The strap is all elastic, it’s red and black and has writing on it that says ‘cree LED headlight’. The strap is adjustable so you can fit it to your head and then adjust it easily if you might be wearing a hat or helmet.

On the front of the light are three LEDs, one large one in the center which is white and two smaller ones on each side which are red. The front section containing the LEDs can be adjusted at angles down so you can light up the area you’re working in or where you need to see while you’re walking. The power button is located at the top right behind the BYB logo, it’s rubberized to keep the elements out and it’s non-slip. The entire LED lamp section is small and won’t take up much room and overall it does feel fairly well made.

The headlamp uses three AAA batteries for power which are not included, to install them the whole front section opens up. When I opened the battery compartment I noticed that there isn’t any sort of rubber gasket around the opening of the compartment as one might expect for something that’s sold as being used outside.  From what I can tell it’s not weather or waterproof, but doesn’t say that it is in the specs either, but it is sold as something to be used outdoors for running, hiking etc.

The button on the top has multiple functions. The first click is white LED on high, second click is white LED on low, third click is red LEDs on, fourth click is red and white LEDs on blinking and 4th click is off.

Conclusion

Overall the BYB LED Headlamp is actually a nice product, for the price I’m impressed as it feels well made and sturdy.

The strap is elastic and adjustable and it’s comfortable to wear just on your head without a hat as the strap is soft.

The LED section can be adjusted to an angle so you can get light where you need it and it will stay there as it does lock in place.

The white LED has two modes for high and low and there are red LEDs as well for seeing in the dark without disturbing anyone. The last mode is red an white LED blinking, for emergency use this would be fine but for practical use I’m not sure what it would be used for. A strobe or blinking white LED is good for many situations but having both blinking doesn’t really make much sense to me.

As an indoor light or one that can be used outdoors in good weather it’s fine, I wouldn’t use it in the rain or anywhere it might get wet as the battery compartment is not sealed against the elements.

Pros:
+Bright and adjustable LED modes
+Comfortable and adjustable strap
+Lamp can be angled for optimal use and lighting

Cons:
-Not weather or waterproof
