We’re back to the kitchen for a quick review of a combo kit from a company called Johnny Appleslice and it’s a slicer and peeler for apples. The peeler is sharp and has a nice thick rubber handle to make sure you keep a grip on it and the slicer easily cuts through apples and makes them into eight handy pieces for you. Specifications and Features
The peeler is the oversized style which I happen to like as it’s easy to grip and keep a hold of. The handle is all rubber and ribbed on the sides and of course there’s the pivoting peeling blade which is nice and sharp to the touch.
The slicer is like others out there, I have a very similar one already but it’s all black. This one is what they call Granny Smith Green, the handles are green and the rest is white. Most of the slicer is plastic in color but the center section or blades are metal as you’d expect so they can slice cleanly through an apple. The handles are rubberized for grip and overall it feels well made.
For testing I used the peeler and slicer, first I used the peeler and it’s nice and sharp and the oversized rubber handle makes it easy to grip and hold tight.
Once I peeled the apple I used the slicer to slice it into eight pieces and the core. The thing that I like about this slicer is that the core stays in the slicer center so you can remove it later and just serve the apple. The blades cut cleanly through the apple with little resistance so they’re fairly sharp I would say.
Conclusion
This is a nice combo kit in my opinion, everything you need really to peel and slice and apple.
My son loves apples and when this arrived he kept asking when I was going to use it, so he got his apple and I got to test the peeler and slicer.
The price is good for this combo kit, not too expensive at all, worth it if you need it or it would make a great gift.
