Every phone I’ve owned has had an Otterbox case on it, at least those that had an Otterbox case available for it. Recently I got the Samsung Galaxy S6 Android phone and as soon as I left the AT&T store I went and bought an Otterbox Commuter Series case for it. I have the case so I thought I would review it as it’s a great case. I got the glacier color, it’s white and gray, with two layer of protection, a soft rubber inner case and then a hard polycarbonate shell over that. It’s a great case, read on to learn more…
Specifications and Features
Otterbox does include a screen protector that comes with a cleaning cloth and squeegee.
You can get the Commuter Series case is several color combinations but I like the glacier color which is gray and white.
the case comes apart for installation, it’s in two pieces, a white polycarbonate shell that protects against external damage and a synthetic rubber internal shell that protects against shocks.
The case is a big bigger than the Galaxy S6, but not much really, that’s one of the reasons I like the Commuter series, they offer good protection without a lot of bulk.
To get your phone in the case you slip the rubber cover over the S6 and then the shell over that but you have to sort of pull the bottom port cover through the shell.
The back has a nice large cutout for the camera and flash, it won’t interfere at all with the function of the camera.
On the bottom is two rubber flaps or covers that protect the audio and microUSB ports from dust, dirt and the elements. The speaker and microphone are left open of course.
The top edge has opening for the secondary microphone and infrared port.
On the right and left sides are the buttons for power and volume, the case has these built-in and raised so you can easy access them by feel.
One thing I really like about the Commuter case is that it overlaps the edge of the phone ever so slightly and the edges of the case are raised a few millimeters as well making it so that if you lay the phone done on it’s face the screen doesn’t actually touch the surface you put it on.
I did install the screen protector with no issues, it’s like any screen protector in that you need to be careful and make sure your phone is clean. It’s clear and I see no difference between with it and without it as far as sensitivity is concerned.
Conclusion
If you’re looking for a case that doesn’t add a lot of bulk but yet looks great and offers a lot of protection for your Samsung Galaxy S6 then you can’t go wrong with the Otterbox Commuter Series case.
I’m a huge fan of Otterbox cases, every phone that I’ve owed that had an Otterbox case made for it I got it as they’re just an excellent case overall.
Otterbox cases are very much worth the price, they last and they offer a lot of protection.
