Up for review today I have the BUTFULAKE SL-100 Stereo Gaming Headset and I have to say that I’m impressed by these, sound quality is great, and they’re comfortable but what I like the most I think is the price,
they’re inexpensive at about $23. The headphones are well made with a nice long cable and they can work with PC, Xbox One and PS4. Read on to learn more…
Specifications and Features
The headphones have a fairly thick coming out of the left earpiece and it comes with a velcro tie to keep the cord secure when you’re not using it. The cable ends in a USB connector and in an audio connector, but in-line is a controller with a dial for volume and then a switch for microphone on and off. The audio connector is the type that has both audio and voice so you can connect it right to the new Xbox One controller with the 3.5mm jack without need for an adapter. The cord length is 2 meters or about 6.5 feet long and it seems sturdy and well made. The USB connector is just for power for the LEDs that are in the headphones, so it’s optional to be connected.
The headphones are made of plastic mostly but the headband does have metal inside of it and it’s adjustable. The metal through the headband acts as a spring to fit them to your head. The top of the headband is padded for comfort and the earpieces are well padded too. The pads cover over and around my ear and help keep external noise out. The headphones are a bit on the heavy side in my opinion, but they’re not overly so, they feel sturdy and well made overall.
The microphone comes out of the left earpiece and it can fold up and out of the way when not in use. It rotates down and up and the furthest point down is at mouth level. The arm can bend slightly towards your mouth if need be.
The headphones do light up when they are connected over USB, the USB is just for power so you don’t need it plugged in all the time as needed. The end of the microphone has a blue LED in it as does both earpieces on the outside. The lighting is nice I guess but it doesn’t really matter to me so it’s nice that you don’t have to use it if you don’t want to.
I used them with my computer for gaming, movies and I tested them with music as well and the sound is actually very good. Bass is decent and they sound very clear but they are a bit light on the treble, at least for my taste.
Listening to music there’s plenty of bass but they don’t get distorted at high volume, they’re still very clear but the earpieces do actually vibrate which can be a bit disconcerting at first.
I also used them with my Xbox One controller as I do have the newer one with the 3.5mm jack built-in and they worked fine. I also have the original Xbox One controller with the audio adapter accessory and the headphones worked fine with them as well.
Conclusion
For the price of these I’m very much impressed by the sound quality, there’s little to no distortion with the volume up and even with heavy bass.
The SL-100 headphones are comfortable to wear for long periods of time thanks to the soft earpads and padded headband.
The cord is over 6 feet long which should be long enough for most any uses.
The SL-100 headphones are well made, they seem sturdy and durable, the cord is also thick and should last a long time.
The lighting is nice looking, not too bright and it’s optional, it’s powered by the USB connection so you don’t have to use it if you don’t want to.
All in all these are a decent and very inexpensive set of a gaming headphones, I’m very much impressed by them for the price.
