The good news is that the AOC e1659Fwu USB Monitor is an inexpensive USB 3.0 based monitor that is lightweight and simple to use. The Windows drivers seem to be mature and the monitor worked seamlessly with a Windows 7 system. The bad news is that using it with recent OS X versions do not provide stellar performance as the colors are washed out and the video performance can be erratic. This is probably due to DisplayLink drivers needing some tweaking and not so much as issue with the AOC monitor.

If you are looking for an inexpensive way to add a 2^nd or 3^rd monitor to your desktop or for use with a laptop then the AOC e1659Fwu USB Monitor is a good option. It will never be mistaken for a Apple Cinema Display but it also won’t break your bank account either.
