Review of D-Link DSP-W215 Wi-Fi Smart Plug

Conclusion

Having experience with the Belkin WeMo, I found the D-Link Wi-Fi Smart Plug easier to setup and manage. Changing networks using the WeMo was definitely more complicated than the D-Link setup (despite the initial snafu I experienced).

One feature that I do prefer on the Belkin WeMo line is the integration with IFTTT (If Then That) giving that system a much larger world of possible rules than the one incorporated in the D-Link ecosystem.

The Wi-Fi Smart Plug provides the user with a simple way to install and monitor their home devices whether inside or out of the home network. There are still some bugs such as the chronic need to log back into the app with the iOS version of the mydlink Home and the apps scheduling setup. Hopefully D-Link will address those in the near future.

If you are looking for a good way to enter the world of home automation, the Wi-Fi Smart Plug DSP-W215 is not a terrible way to start as long as you can deal with some initial growing pains.
