Review of G-Form Extreme Edge Case for iPad & 10.1" Tablets

Usage and Installation

For my usage I tried the G-Form Extreme Edge case with two different tablets, the Acer Iconia A500 which is 10.1” in size and the Le Pan TC970 which is 9.7” in size.

Here’s my Acer Iconia with the case, both front and back:

Getting the Iconia in the G-Form case is rather difficult, and once you get it on it’s very tight and it’s going to come out. Staying in the case is of course a good thing. For the most part installation is simple, just stick your tablet under the tabs, but getting them under the tabs is where the difficult part comes in.

Once the tablet is in the case the front edges really pop up which is a bit disconcerting honestly, it makes the case even thicker. The corners are thick and the idea of them sticking out like this is to protect the screen in case you drop it. If you drop it screen down the corners will hit and not the screen, at least that’s how it’s supposed to work anyway.

Here’s the back view of the tablet in the case, yeah you really can’t see much, but you can see how the case sort of bulges outward a bit.

The G-Form Extreme Edge case is sold as a case that can be used with the iPad or other 10.1” tablets, but I think it’s really only compatible with the iPad, at least as far as where the camera hole is. It doesn’t even line up close the Iconia rear camera. To get it to line up I’d have to cut a hole in the case and of course that would most likely void any warranty it has. It would have been nice if there was some sort of cover over the hole so if you weren’t going to use it or were using something besides the iPad then there wouldn’t be an open hole there.

Using the tablet with the G-From case is kind of weird, that’s the best way to describe it, it makes the tablet about twice and thick and it just feels bulky. I guess that’s the price you’ll have to pay to get this level of protection for your tablet.

Here’s a couple shots of my 9.7” tablet in the case and it does fit fine, so you can use slightly smaller tablets with it if you need to.

The G-Form Extreme Edge case is made to withstand drops and they mean hard or big drops. I like my tablets, so I’m not going to throw them around or drop them from heights as I just can’t afford to replace them. Luckily G-Form performed their own test and literally dropped it from space, or very close to it at 100,000 feet! Here’s their video, and I think it shows it offers good protection to say the least….
