Conclusion

The iStarUSA BPN-2535DE-SA hot-swap drive cage is simple to install and use and it makes life much easier when it comes to accessing data on your hard drives.

The cage is handy as you don’t have to ever open you case to install drives, just put it in the cage and start accessing it, very simple.

Speeds are virtually identical using the SATA connection or the iStar cage, so there’s no real difference.

The cage could also be used for Raid if you wanted to, but not sure why you’d want to as it’s a hot-swap cage and I think the point is quick access, but it’s nice to have the option.

The cage seems to do a good job of keeping the drives cool, after running tests and transferring data, the drives were not overly hot after I removed them from the cage.

The solid cage enclosure also does a great job of keeping the noise down from the drives, I could not hear the drives at all really.

The price is about $36 on average, it depends where you look but I think it’s worth it as it is well made, keeps the drives quiet and it’s easy to use.

So that’s it really, not much more to it, put drives in, transfer data, take drives out. Simple to use but very handy.

All in all I like it, it’s very useful and just works.
