The Review

Let’s start with a video unboxing and then move on:

The projector comes packaged very well in a sturdy white cardboard box. The projector is wrapped in soft plastic and surrounded by foam, alongside is the accessory box which contains the remote, user manual, power cable, A/V cable and mini stand.

The remote is fairly basic really with buttons for power, mute, forward, back, play/pause, navigation, menu, source and exit.

On the top of the projector is the focus wheel and keystone adjustment wheel which are right behind the lens. Towards the back is the control panel with buttons for channel up and down, volume up and down, source, enter, menu, power and navigation arrows. The navigation arrows double for channel and volume as well, it depends which mode you’re in when using the projector. The projector isn’t exactly what I would call mini, I have a mini one and it fits in my pocket, this one measures at about 7.75 x 6.25 x 2.75 inches in dimensions so it’s not very small but it’s still portable and it does seem well made overall.

If you’re looking at the projector from the back, the left side is where you’ll find the inputs and outputs for VGA, HDMI, USB, SD card and headphones along with an A/V input that you’ll connect the included cable into.

On the back is the speaker, IR receiver and the power port and the left side just has ventilation slits.

The front of the projector is where the lens is and it comes with a protective lens cap for you. The front also has an IR receiver to use with the remote from the front side if need be.

The bottom of the projector has a space for a tripod along with one for the included stand. On the bottom is also four rubber feet, ventilation and a small door to clean dust out of the projector if need be.

The onscreen menus are basic with just four main choices for video, audio, time and basic options for operation.

There is an onscreen menu as well so you can change the picture modes, you can select from presets or customize it to your own liking.

Since the projector can only output 480p I connected a DVD player to it using the included A/V cable and it worked fine, no complaints really, turned it on, selected source and I had a picture. Picture quality isn’t bad, sure it’s only 480p but it’s clear and crisp really but you need to be a dark room to really see things well. The colors are fine and the motion is smooth, it looks good overall. Audio isn’t bad, it’s not stereo but you can hook up external speakers to the projector if need be.

The cooling fan is a bit loud but you can drown it out with the volume on the projector.

Focus and keystone knobs work as expected.

Conclusion

The price of the Pravette mini projector is $99 right now on Amazon and that’s about the average price for a projector of this type so it’s priced competitively.

The projector works well and I love the fact that it’s very easy to use, it really is simple to get it set up and watching a movie, just a few minutes.

It’s 480p output so it’s not HD but the picture quality is very good for the resolution and the picture is crisp and clean with good colors.

Audio leaves a bit to be desired, it’s not stereo so I personally would use an external set of speakers but the built-in speaker isn’t bad to use if needed.

You will need to use the projector in a dark room with the lights off, but that’s to be expected really.

All in all the Pravette mini projector isn’t bad for the price and for what it can do.

Pros:
+Multiple inputs
+Decent picture
+Simple to use

Cons:
-Only 480p resolution display
-Not exactly mini
-Need dark room
