Conclusion

 

The Cooler Master HAF XB is a case that does double duty really, yes it’s a small lanbox style case but it’s also a test bench. Most people might not have a need for a test bench but I think everyone will be able to appreciate the ability to really open it up and access everything inside thanks to it being a test bench also.

The HAF XB has plenty of room for even the largest of video cards and you can fit more than one with no issues.

The case has plenty of cooling options as well, you can use air and it will fit larger style air coolers, or you can go with water and fit large radiators right inside of the case or a combination of both and it will all fit. Yes it’s a small case but it’s big on the inside! The case has room for several optional cooling fans, but includes two 120mm front fans to get you started.

The HAF XB is primarily for those that have multiple 2.5” drives like the ever popular SSD, but it does have room for a couple standard 3.5” drives in the X-Dock. You can install the 3.5” drives in the X-Dock permanently or ,as the name suggests, you can use them as a hot-swap dock to quickly and easily swap out drives as needed.

The case has room for two 5.25” devices which should be more than enough for most people. The HAF XB is, I think, meant to be more for a gaming type system and since it’s small it’s meant to be portable. If like me, your system is an everything type of system, you may have to make some sacrifices to use this case due to the space limitations.

The two 120mm cooling fans aren’t the quietest but they’re not very loud either. The fans do suck in a lot of dust and it you leave it alone for  along period of time the dust will accumulate quite a bit.

 

 

Overall I like the HAF XB case, it’s small and portable yet it’s got plenty of room for even the highest end systems to fit with no issues at all.

If you’re looking for a small case then I recommend it as it’s very well made and designed to maximize the space available to the user. The fact that it’s a test bench as well should not deter the average person from buying it as being a test bench makes it easier really to get your system installed.
